CRASS were (and still are, they might not be active now but they're
still important), Crass were a very important band - they had a hand in
a whole slice of possitive 80's counter culture moves. They were a big
part of whole a set of alternative ideas that kick started a whole load
of activists and free though and... if you don't know why there here you
go, if you do know why then here you go... Go be inspired... They
part of the reason why we've stuck around here for so long...
There
is No Authority But Yourself is a rather good hour long Dutch film (in
English) documenting the history of anarchist punk band Crass. If you don’t
know Crass then you really need to know them, you need to know them, explore
them, question them. The Dutch film-makers say this (in their broken English
way that really doesn’t need correcting) “The 'anarcho-punk' band Crass
never compromised, was very political and never had faked some sort of
appearance. They were honest. Real. And extremely popular. Some of the
members are still living together in Dial House, a quiet place in the countryside
just outside London. 'Permaculture' workshops ('living ecologically and
sustainable') are organized there. Penny Rimbaud and Gee Vaucher (art works)
are still living up to Crass' ideals. They are trying to live an authentic
life 'outside the framework'”
Go watch it and do what you will with what you find....
